The Importance of Culture in Language Learning

Abstract

A number of language instructed programmes focus on the development of skills, i.e.(listening, speaking, reading, and writing) but the teaching of cultural context has not been introduced in any of the language learning programmes. However, the understanding of target culture not only develops competence in communication but also raises awareness regarding the use of language in intercultural communication.
