Abstract

The article reveals the meaning and stylistic difference of words written with stylistic signs (marks) in explanatory dictionaries of the English language. In particular, words with bookish, archaic, historical, slang, vulgar, dialectal, poetic, borrowed and a number of other stylistic features (labels) were carefully analyzed and studied.
